Expression of plexAΔcyt.Scer\UAS in R-cell axons under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF induces hyperfasciculation leading to the formation of thicker R-cell axonal bundles between lamina and medulla, and a decrease in the number of separate axonal bundles between lamina and medulla. In medulla, R-cell axons form large clumps.
Expression of plexAΔcyt.Scer\UAS in R-cells where endogenous plexA is knocked-down by expression of plexAdsRNA.Scer\UAS (both transgenes under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF) largely restores the R1-R6 termination pattern in the lamina.
