Imprecise excision of the progenitor insertion, P{GT1}Sulf1GT-000656 results in a small deletion in exon 3 of Sulf1 which results in a frame shift at the amino acid residue Ser-59 and early termination of translation at amino acid 63.
Sulf1ΔP2 mutant adults display defects in wing margin bristles. An increase in the number of chemosensory and mechanosensory bristles on the anterior wing margin is evident. Ectopic mechanosensory bristles which have shifted more posterior to their normal position are also observed. These defects are slightly more severe in Sulf1ΔP2/Df(3R)sbd26 animals.
