Imprecise excision of the progenitor insertion P{EPgy2}NtlEY05549 results in a mutation in Ntl.
Early sperm development appears normal in Ntl129A mutant testes. The individualisation process and axoneme structure appear normal. Males produce elongated spermiogenic cysts, but no mature sperm is detected in the seminal vesicle. No motile sperm are observed in squash preparations. An extensive mass of coiled sperm bundles accumulate at the base of Ntl129A mutant testes.
Ntl129A is rescued by NtlβTub85D
Expression of NtlβTub85D restores fertility in Ntl129A mutant males.
