Scer\GAL4^{bam.T:Hsim\VP16} Rint1^KK102321 spermatocytes have less numerous Golgi structures (~10/cell) than in wild type (~20/cell), and exhibit strong morphological defects.

Scer\GAL4^{bam.T:Hsim\VP16} Rint1^KK102321 spermatids from mutant third instar larvae testes are multinucleated (with nuclei of the same size), indicating defects in cytokinesis (but not chromosome segregation).

The central spindle and contractile ring of Scer\GAL4^{bam.T:Hsim\VP16} Rint1^KK102321 spermatocytes are both regular during anaphase and early telophase, but the contractile ring fails to constrict properly in most telophases and the central spindle eventually degenerates. Fusion of Golgi-derived vesicles with the furrow membrane appears normal.
