The reported amino acid position for the mutation was based on a predicted protein length of 2178 amino acids. The current Pi4KIIIalpha annotation is shorter by 44 amino acids due to the use of a different splice donor site in the first intron. The mapped amino acid position has been shifted accordingly. Site of nucleotide substitution in mutant inferred by FlyBase based on reported amino acid change.
In mosaic egg chambers containing mutant posterior follicle cells, the oocyte nucleus remains at the posterior end of the oocyte in 47.7% of late egg chambers. The mutant posterior follicle cells often lose their monolayered epithelial structure after stage 6 and have smaller nuclei than surrounding cells. Mutant clones on the lateral side of the egg chamber show normal epithelial structure.
