G to A nucleotide change at the second or third position of the Trp codon leads to a nonsense mutation (exact site of mutation unspecified). Site of nucleotide substitution in mutant inferred by FlyBase base on reported amino acid change.
eye | somatic clone, with Scer\FLP1ey.PN
Animals containing eye-specific clones of Cul4JJ11 (in combination with Scer\FLP1ey.PN) exhibit smaller eye discs and smaller adult eyes while they exhibit an increase in the size of head capsule.
Third instar larvae containing eye-disc-specific clones of Cul4JJ11 (in combination with Scer\FLP1ey.PN) exhibit increased occurrence of cell division in the eye disc anterior to the morphogenetic furrow (MF).
Third instar larvae containing eye-disc-specific clones of Cul4JJ11 (in combination with Scer\FLP1ey.PN) exhibit a defective pattern for R8 positive cells and a disruption in the progression of MF.
Cul4JJ11 homozygotes exhibit signs of quiescence in the larval brain: neuroblasts show a significant decrease in cell divisions (both DNA replication/EdU staining and Mitosis/phospho-H3); are significantly decreased in number; and frequently show a primary cellular process, whereas control neuroblasts show a typically rounded morphology. Likewise, Cul4JJ11 neuroblast clones in the larval brain also show a significant decrease in cell divisions (DNA replication/EdU staining).
Homozygous Cul-4JJ11 mutants are arrested in the second-instar larval stage.
