UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a short inverted repeat.
The expression of aPKCGL00007 under the control of Scer\GAL4nos.PG leads to germline degeneration in the germarium.
Females heterozygous for aPKCGL00007 and MTD-Gal4 (consists of Scer\GAL4otu.T:Hsim\VP16, Scer\GAL4nos.PG and Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16) crossed to aPKCGL00007 males results in: no eggs; egg/embryonic phenotype: no vitellogenic egg chambers; oogenesis defect.
Testes of males expressing aPKCGL00007 under the control of Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16 sometimes contain misoriented spermatid cysts where the clustered spermatid nuclei are found apically (rather than basally). When expression is driven by the triple "MTD" driver line (Scer\GAL4nos.PG, Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16 and Scer\GAL4otu.T:Hsim\VP16) 100% of testes have multiple mis-oriented spermatid cysts and the testes are shorter than normal.
