Detailed Description

Mutant larvae do not grow, move slowly and die as very tiny first instar larvae 4-7 days after hatching.

Females containing mRpL55tmb13 germline clones are sterile.

mRpL55tmb13 cells are viable within somatic clones in the larval eye disc and do not appear to be smaller than wild type twin spot clones. However, mRpL55tmb13 clones are not observed in the adult eyes, and mRpL55tmb13 heterozygous patches are smaller than the wild type (+/+) clones, although the overall shape and size of adult eyes is not affected.

Comments

Expression of mRpL55Scer\UAS.cTa with Scer\GAL4da.G32 rescues the early larval lethality of mRpL55tmb13 mutants, allowing them to develop into pupae in expected numbers. However, mutants are not rescued to the adult stage.
