Description

A NcoI/BspI genomic fragment from of the progenitor has been replaced with the corresponding fragment from the Fmr1 cDNA, removing sequences encoding the alternatively spliced intron. This results in a transgene that cannot produce the Fmr1-PB (Q/N-) isoform.

Fmr1L partially rescues Fmr13

Comments

Fmr1L rescues the reduction in naive courtship activity seen in Fmr13 males, and the rescued males show normal short-term memory after training (showing a reduction in courtship index 60 minutes after training when placed with a receptive female). However, the rescued males show a deficit in long-term memory after training; they do not show a significant reduction in courtship index 4 days after training when placed with a receptive female.
