UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a truncated form of PGRP-LC (amino acids 1-323) that lacks the extracellular domain but retains the membrane spanning intracellular fragment common to all isoforms.

      Expression of PGRP-LCI.Scer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG under the control of either Scer\GAL4Cg.PA, Scer\GAL4Hml.PG or Scer\GAL4yolk results in induction of IMD pathway activation in the absence of bacterial infection.

      Expression of PGRP-LCI.Scer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG under the control of Scer\GAL4Cg.PA results in spontaneous and massive melanization in larval, pupal and adult tissues in the absence of bacterial infection. A less severe phenotype is seen under the control of Scer\GAL4Hml.PG, and no melanization is seen when PGRP-LCI.Scer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4yolk.

      Expression of PGRP-LCI.Scer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG under the control of Scer\GAL4Cg.PA results in severe developmental delays (>10-15 days). Larvae and pupae with severe melanization do not survive to adulthood.
