Overexpression of Gr64eScer\UAS.cWa via Scer\GAL4Gr5a.8.5 does not affect glycerol sensitivity.
Ectopic expression of Gr64eScer\UAS.cWa in the ab1C neuron (under the control of Scer\GAL4Gr21a.9.323 and Scer\GAL4Gr63a.PF) confers glycerol sensitivity in a dose-dependent manner. This expression also causes a small elevation in the spontaneous firing rate of the ab1C neuron but does not alter the response to CO[[2]].
Ectopic expression of Gr64eScer\UAS.cWa in the ab1C neuron (under the control of Scer\GAL4Gr21a.9.323 and Scer\GAL4Gr63a.PF) confers 1,2-propanediol sensitivity, but does not confer sensitivity to sucrose, glucose or fructose.
Expression of Gr64eScer\UAS.cWa in sugar taste neurons (under the control of Scer\GAL4Gr5a.8.5) restores glycerol sensitivity.
