Homozygous adults show a number of defects, including rough eyes (penetrance approximately 25%) and extra macrochaetae, particularly the anterior scutellars (penetrance approximately 50%).

All homozygous females are sterile, laying very few eggs. The eggs which are laid are flaccid with poorly formed dorsal appendages. Stage 9 mutant egg chambers appear elongated compared to wild type, with the oocyte occupying less of the egg chamber than normal. Stage 9 and 10A mutant egg chambers show premature phalloidin and spectrin staining at the anterior end of the oocyte. Stage 14 mutant oocytes are normal in size.

Females containing homozygous germline clones are fertile with normal egg chambers.

The cells in homozygous follicle cell clones are much smaller in size than the adjacent wild-type cells in mosaic egg chambers from stage 9 onwards. This defect is also seen in females containing both homozygous germline clones and homozygous follicle cell clones.
