UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a short inverted repeat.
Eggs with expression of SMC3GL00518 driven by Scer\GAL4mat.αTub67C.T:Hsim\VP16 do not hatch. Embryos progress through syncytial divisions that become progressively aberrant and asynchronous, with suggestions of precocious chromosome segregation; eggs appear to complete meiosis, with presence of polar body chromosomes that lack centromeric cohesion in embryos.
Half of mature stage 14 oocytes with expression of SMC3GL00518 driven by Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16 have more than one DNA mass (precocious homologue segregation and sister chromatid cohesion along centromeres is maintained); arm cohesion during meiosis is also disrupted.
Expression of SMC3GL00518 under the control of Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16 induces defects in centromere clustering and sister chromatid cohesion (assessed by number of cid foci) in pachytene oocytes.
SMC3GL00518, Scer\GAL4VP16.nanos.UTR has abnormal cell cycle phenotype, non-enhanceable by vtdGL00522, Scer\GAL4VP16.nanos.UTR
Co-expression of vtdGL00522 does not enhance precocious homologue segregation seen in oocytes with expression of SMC3GL00518 driven by Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16.
