UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a short inverted repeat.
Somatic clones expressing kisGL00557 under the control of Scer\GAL4Tub.PU contain a greater overall number of cells and significantly more intestinal stem cells in adult flies compared to controls.
Expressing kisGL00557 under the control of either Scer\GAL4esg.PU alone or together with Scer\GAL80Su(H).GBE (both genotypes in combination with a Gal80[ts] transgene to restrict expression to the adult stage) induces stem cell overproliferation, resulting in a greater overall number of esg-positive cells and significantly more intestinal stem cells in adult flies compared to controls. No change in proliferation or cell number is observed when expression is under the control of Scer\GAL4NP0001, Scer\GAL4Su(H).GBE or Scer\GAL4pros-V1 (each in combination with a Gal80[ts] transgene to restrict expression to the adult stage).
