      Homozygous clones in the third larval instar eye disc have enlarged ommatidia containing supernumerary photoreceptors. Homozygous clones in the adult eye (induced in a Minute background) have enlarged ommatidia with craters of missing lens material. The mutant ommatidia often contain extra R8 photoreceptor cells.
