UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat of a 425bp fragment corresponding to Ubqn exon 2 (nucleotides 729-1153). The repeats are arranged in head-to-head orientation and are separated by w intron sequences.
Expression of UbqndsRNA.Scer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 results in morphological defects in pupae, including legs which are shorter than normal and partially elongated. The animals die at pharate adult stages P14-P15.
