      Scer\GAL4rn-GAL4-5-mediated expression of Ilp8Scer\UAS.cCa results in a slight but consistent growth retardation of imaginal discs, which reach normal pupariation sizes with a 6 hour delay. (Disc patterning, morphogenesis, and apoptosis are unaffected.) These animals then pupariate with a 2-3 day delay, giving rise to 20% heavier adults.
