lethal | pharate adult stage (with mgrl4)
mgrl4/mgr5 neuroblasts from third instar larval brains exhibit circular mitotic figures; spindles may be monopolar or bipolar with abnormal morphology. Their mitotic index and the ratio of metaphase:anaphase figures is elevated some twofold over that of wild type, and they show increased defective and monopolar mitoses. These data indicate a delay in progression through the mitotic cycle.
mgrl4/mgr5 animals show pharate lethality with some sterile adults.
mgrl4/mgr5 testes cells can undergo the premeiotic mitosis. However, meiotic spindles are either absent or highly abnormal in mature (but not young) primary spermatocyte cysts.
mgrl4/mgr5 larval brain squashes show a slight loss of microtubules.
mgrl4/mgr5 has microtubule phenotype, enhanceable by βTub56DGFP
