      Scer\GAL4da.G32-mediated expression of SskScer\UAS.cYa in the Df(3L)Ssk background fails to rescue lethality, the protrusion of the apical membrane of anterior midgut epithelial cells, or the accumulation of material within the embryonic midgut. However, the parallel plasma membranes of adjacent midgut epithelial cells and a series of septa-like structures are often observed within the intercellular space at late stage 17.
