UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of a 500bp inverted repeat.
Expression of Snmp1NIG.7000R under the control of Scer\GAL4phm.PO leads to L3 developmental arrest. The larvae survive for approximately ten days, darken in the anterior part but fail to form a cuticle. The pseudo pupae die at this stage. The prothoracic gland cells have a reduced lipid content, reaching between 5 and 16% of droplets per cell compared to controls. These droplets are abnormally big, being about three times larger than in controls. When larvae expressing Snmp1NIG.7000R are fed exogenous 20E 100% of the animals pupariate, and 66% produce adult flies.
