Description

A 3.0kb ninaE promoter fragment drives expression of a chimeric protein consisting of ninaE in which the second cytoplasmic loop has been replaced by the corresponding sequence from Btau\RHO. A 0.7kb fragment corresponding to the 3' untranslated region of ninaE is also present.

      ninaE::Btau\RHORHOC2.ninaE rescues the rhabdomere defects of ninaE17 flies. The rescued flies show excellent rhabdomere morphology at 7 days after eclosion and ommatidial structure remains intact in 14 day old flies.
