Imprecise excision of the progenitor insertion, resulting in a 880bp deletion that extends upstream from the original insertion site, eliminating the transcriptional promoter and all the the 3' most 72bp of the tsu 5'UTR.
Homozygous female germline clones develop to stage 3-4 of oogenesis, and fusome development appears normal. Entry into meiosis is normal in the mutant cysts, but 84% of the clones retain synaptonemal complexes in four adjacent cells in regions 2b and 3 of the germarium. In contrast to wild type, centrosomes are not concentrated within single cells in regions 2b and 3 of the germarium, but are evenly distributed.
