UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a short inverted repeat.
The expression of Idgf4GL01142 under the control of Scer\GAL4VP16.nos.UTR leads to female sterility as, although eggs show normal morphology and assemble zygotic chromatin, they fail to initiate embryo mitotic divisions and meiosis does not seem to be successfully completed (shown by abnormal polar body rosettes). The few eggs that fail to assemble a zygotic genome are characterized by the presence of two morphologically equivalent pronuclei that do not appose.
