UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a short inverted repeat.
Expression of Abca3HMS01796 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu leads to an increase in the active zone density at neuromuscular junctions (of muscle 4 of the A3 and A4 segment) in third instar larvae when compared to controls.
Expression of ABCAHMS01796 under the control of either Scer\GAL4GR1 or Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16 does not induce any nurse cell clearance defect in mutant stage 14 egg chambers and like in wild-type all the germ-line derived nurse cells have undergone programmed cell death and been cleared by this stage.
Expression from one copy of ABCAHMS01796 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu leads to a significant increase in average distance between male adults (not between female adults), despite no significant changes in locomotor ability, as compared to controls. Reared under 12h:12h light:dark cycles, these adults present mild increases in evening peak activity (including an early onset of activity), and in midday siesta activity, but not in morning activity peak, and a mild decrease in night time sleep, as compared to controls.
The neuromuscular junctions of third instar larvae expressing from one copy of ABCAHMS01796 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu exhibit a small but significant increase in the number of satellite boutons, but exhibit no obvious changes in the number of mature boutons, or in either the number or length of branches, as compared to controls.
