Description

Imprecise excision of P{GT1}BG01408 results in a 1.5kbp genomic deletion. This removes exon 1 and part of intron 1 of Ac78C.

The electrical response to 100mM sucrose in sugar-sensitive GRNs in Ac78CΔ32is significantly lower than that in controls, during the period between 200ms and 1.6s after the onset of stimulus. The response in Ac78CΔ32 mutants is approximately 60% of those in controls at 100mM sucrose. The response at 4, 20, and 100mM sucrose in Ac78CΔ32 mutants is significantly lower than in controls. Moreover, the extent of depression in Ac78CΔ32 is greater at lower, concentrations, and the response to 400mM sucrose is not different between Ac78CΔ32 and controls. The water response is not affected in this mutant.

Responses to 8, 40, 200, and 80mM trehalose in Ac78CΔ32 flies are significantly lower than those in controls, while the amount of water intake is no different to that in controls. Ac78CΔ32 hemizygotes show impaired sucrose response.

The avoidance index to denatonium benzoate or quinine is not affected in Ac78CΔ32 flies, but the response to 1mM caffeine is significantly lower than in controls.
