Imprecise excision of P{EPgy2}EY00794 has resulted in an approximately 375bp deletion comprising the first exon and part of the first intron of Grasp65.
Approximately 10% of homozygous Grasp65100.2 mutant flies survive to adulthood. Of this 10%, 35% exhibit severe wing problems, sometimes displaying severe adhesion problems exemplified in collapsed wings and large blisters. The majority of pupal wing imaginal discs are also severely compromised.
The stage 10-11 follicular epithelium is disrupted in Grasp65100.2 mutant ovaries, with defects including misshaped cells and occasional loss of cell-cell contact, leading to severe disruption but without loss of polarity.
Grasp65100.2 is rescued by Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI/Grasp65UAS.EGFP
Expression of Grasp65Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI rescues the follicular epithelium defects seen in Grasp65100.2 mutant ovaries. The wing disc phenotypes are also completely rescued.
