FlyBase curator comment: this entry is used to capture phenotypic information when the particular allele (or allele combination) used by the author could not be determined but the context of the experiment suggests that the phenotype being described is some kind of loss of function.
Homozygous follicle cell clones show a cell flattening defect compared to wild-type cells in 20% of cases. This flattening always affects cells on the lateral side of the follicles. Loss of polarity, indicated by the formation of multilayers or round cells occurs in less than 1% of homozygous follicle cell clones.
