The dorsal abdominal muscles of larvae expressing east1-1902.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR appear morphologically normal. However, during the early pupal stage, these animals show a delay in the apoptosis of the dorsal external oblique muscles, with the mutant muscles remaining intact until 24 hours after puparium formation (APF) (the muscles have completed histolysis by 12 hours APF in wild type). The remodelling of larval dorsal internal oblique muscles into adult muscles is also abnormal in these animals: the reduction in muscle diameter is delayed compared to wild type and the muscles show irregular morphologies and orientations.
