UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an RNAi construct which targets sequence encoding the Snapin open reading frame (ORF). This ORF is part of a dicistronic transcript that encodes both Snapin and CG9960, and expression of both these genes is down-regulated by this RNAi construct.

      Expression of P{GD17714} (which down-regulates expression of both Snapin and CG9960) under the control of Scer\GAL4tub.PU results in pupal lethality.

      Expression of P{GD17714} under the control of Scer\GAL4tub.PU has a negligible effect on baseline synaptic transmission at the larval neuromuscular junction. However, the presynaptic homeostatic plasticity that normally occurs after application of the postsynaptic glutamate receptor antagonist PhTx is completely blocked in the mutant larvae.
