Description

Imprecise excision of the progenitor insertion, resulting in a deletion that extends from -410 to +533 relative to the skl transcription start site. This removes the entire skl open reading frame and some 5' flanking sequence. Additional sequence is inserted in the skl upstream region and there is a 3bp deletion at -520.

      Homozygotes are viable and fertile, with no noticeable deficit in morphology, development and reproduction.

      Homozygotes show a minor defect in programmed cell death with 3.8 +/- 1.0 vCrz neurons being present at 7 hours after puparium formation (these neurons are no longer present in wild-type animals at this stage).
