Expression of mir-289Scer\UAS.T:Disc\RFP-mCherry under the control of Scer\GAL4C57, Scer\GAL4futsch-C380 or Scer\GAL4RapGAP1-OK6 completely blocks or significantly reduces the activity-dependent increase in the frequency of miniature excitatory junction potential at larval neuromuscular junction observed in wild-type third instar larvae.
Expression of mir-289Scer\UAS.T:Disc\RFP-mCherry under the control of Scer\GAL4futsch-C380 suppresses the increase in "ghost bouton" number (axon terminal extensions with synaptic vesicles but lacking active zones and postsynaptic structures) per neuromuscular junction caused by spaced high K[+] depolarization.
Total bouton number at the neuromuscular junction is not significantly different from wild type in larvae expressing mir-289Scer\UAS.T:Disc\RFP-mCherry under the control of Scer\GAL4futsch-C380.
