UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of a 2.4kb genomic fragment which encodes the microRNA cluster which contains mir-959, mir-960, mir-961, mir-962, mir-963 and mir-964 (fragment extends 500bp upstream and downstream of mir-959 and mir-964 respectively.

      The circadian period of mutant flies expressing P{UAS-mir-959+mir-960+mir-961+mir-962+mir-963+mir-964.CLU} under the control of Scer\GAL4tim.PE is over an hour longer than that of wild-type controls.

      Flies expressing P{UAS-mir-959+mir-960+mir-961+mir-962+mir-963+mir-964.CLU} under the control of Scer\GAL4tim.PE and infected with an attenuated strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA14 plcs) at ZT17 (the reported peak survival time in a circadian cycle) show substantially higher bacterial titers 24 hours post-infection compared to control flies.

      Flies expressing P{UAS-mir-959+mir-960+mir-961+mir-962+mir-963+mir-964.CLU} under the control of Scer\GAL4tim.PE show a dramatic increase in food consumption after starvation compared to controls.
