Imprecise excision of Mi{ET1}tnMB03490 generates a deletion after the B-Box and Coiled-coil domain of tn resulting in a frameshift mutation and a truncated protein.
Loss of tn, in tnMJO-313 homozygotes or tnMJO-313/Df(2R)Exel6068 transheterozygotes, does not compromise muscle attachment. However, the mutant myofibers show signs of atrophy, being shorter and thinner suggesting some underlying sacromeric defects. Periodic F-actin striations are severely disrupted in mutant larvae when compared to control larvae.
