Expression of elg1HMC03187 RNAi under the control of the triple Scer\GAL4nos.PG,Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16, Scer\GAL4otu.T:Hsim\VP16 driver results in nurse cell endoreplication defects and underreplicated phenotype. Unlike controls, ovaries from elg1HMC03187 RNAi expressing females lack cells with ploidy levels of 128C-1024C, from the ploidy levels that surpass those found also in somatic cells they display a peak only at 64C and the stage 14 egg chambers lack dorsal appendages.

The underreplicated nurse cell phenotype characteristic for flies expressing elg1HMC03187 RNAi under the control of the triple Scer\GAL4nos.PG, Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16, Scer\GAL4otu.T:Hsim\VP16 driver is partially suppressed by co-expression of either enokHMS02165 RNAi or enokHMS02634 RNAi. The nurse cells are still underreplicated but the nuclei are relatively bigger and the cells display higher ploidy levels compared to females expressing elg1HMC03187 alone. enokHMS02634 RNAi also partially rescues the missing dorsal appendages phenotype observed in elg1HMC03187 RNAi expressing egg chambers.
