        The lethality of the "l(3)j13C8" line does not appear to be due to disruption of Sec23 function: the chromosome is not lethal in combination either Sec239G or with Df(3R)ED5187 (a deficiency that deletes Sec23). This suggests that the lethality (represented by l(3)j13C8j13C8) is separable from the P{lacW}Sec23j13C8 insertion in Sec23.
