Homozygous clones in the wing result in severe misorientation of wing hairs and loss of wing margin. At 23 hours after pupariation both mutant cells along the distal clone border and wild-type cells located distal and close to the clone border show misorientation of pre-hairs, while mutant cells deep within the clone show normal pre-hair polarity.

Expression of pclScer\UAS.cMa under the control of either Scer\GAL4da.PU or Scer\GAL4arm.PS rescues both the lethality of pcl1 homozygotes and the wing margin defect caused by homozygous pcl1 clones in the wing. Expression of pclScer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4arm.PS partially rescues the wing hair polarity defect caused by homozygous pcl1 clones in the wing.
