Cycle 14 embryos produced by females carrying 4 copies of the piwi5'T:Hsap\MYC transgene have around 50 pole cells, while embryos produced by females carrying 6 copies of piwi5'T:Hsap\MYC have around 66 pole cells, compared to 24 pole cells in wild-type embryos. The embryos from the transgene-carrying mothers show no increase in the number of somatic cells and no defects in either abdominal patterning or embryonic polarity.
The ability of geldanamycin to increase the frequency of the ectopic eye outgrowth phenotype in KrIf-1 homozygous females is reduced if the females are also carrying piwi5'T:Hsap\MYC.
Expression of two copies of piwi5'T:Hsap\MYC rescues the ovary phenotypes and egg laying defects seen in homozygous piwi1 mutant flies.
