A 6.5kb fragment of the tau gene has been deleted and replaced with a recombination cassette that is suitable for recombinase-mediated cassette exchange (RMCE). The cassette consists of a single FRT site, a w+* marker, an attL sequence, a y+mDint2 marker, an attP site and a single Dhyd\Minos transposable element end. This mutation was created by phiC31:int-mediated integration of a marked sequence into one of the attP sites present in the Mi{MIC}tauMI03440 insertion, followed by homologous recombination induced using the RS(I-SceI) site present in the inserted sequence.
