Imprecise excision of the progenitor insertion, resulting in deletion of the 5' end of Scamp.
Homozygous have no apparent morphological abnormalities. Scamp50B/Y males climb significantly slower than controls at 5-8 days after eclosion. Scamp63A/Scamp[50B] females climb significantly slower than controls and this declines with age.
Scamp63A/Scamp[50B] females show normal sensing and odor avoidance movements, but show significant impairment in long-term olfactory-associated memory formation.
