Homozygous Gr64aGAL4 mutant flies exhibit a reduced proboscis extension response to fructose and maltose upon stimulation of the tarsal taste sensilla.
In Gr64aGAL4 mutants, sweet taste 5b sensilla GRNs have significantly decreased responses to Maltose and Maltotriose, but not to the sweet chemicals Sucrose, Fructose, Trehalose, Glucose and Stachyose, as compared to heterozygous controls; of those chemicals, sweet taste 5v sensilla GRNs have only show significantly decreased response to Maltotriose.
