Expression of a transgene bearing 12 copies of a mutated form of the histone repeat unit (PBac{12xHisTA.H4K20A} - comprised of 12xHis4HisTA.H4K20A and 12x wild type copies of His1HisTA.wt, His2AHisTA.wt, His2BHisTA.wt and His3HisTA.wt) in a wild type background has no observable phenotype.

85% of flies that are homozygous for His4rLL05512 and Df(2L)HisC and express a mutated form of the histone repeat unit transgene containing 12 copies of the histone gene repeat unit (PBac{12xHisTA.H4K20A} - comprised of His4HisTA.H4K20A and wild type copies of His1HisTA.wt, His2AHisTA.wt, His2BHisTA.wt, His3HisTA.wt) are able to pupate and 35% develop until late pharate adults.

Comments

Expression of a transgene bearing 12 copies of a mutated form of the histone repeat unit (PBac{12xHisTA.H4K20A} -comprised of 12xHis4HisTA.H4K20A and 12x wild type copies of His1HisTA.wt, His2AHisTA.wt, His2BHisTA.wt and His3HisTA.wt) partially rescues the lethality of homozygous Df(2L)HisC mutant flies. The resulting flies exhibit a significant developmental delay.
