The R50B03 enhancer fragment is fused upstream of the Drosophila synthetic core promoter (DSCP) followed by the GAL4(DBD)::Zip- hemidriver (component of the 'Split GAL4' system, contains the GAL4 DNA-binding domain). A Hsp70 transcriptional terminator is present.

      Adult females slightly prefer optogenetic activation (using Cnoc\ChR1Cs.IVS.20xUAS.Venus with 627 nm (red) light) of neurons targeted by the split-GAL4 pair of Scer\GAL4DBD.R50B03 and Hsap\RELAAD.R82C10 to darkness with no activation; this preference is not significantly greater than that of controls for red light compared to darkness.
