The expression of sifHMJ23517 under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 results in decreased climbing activity and heat-induced paralysis. Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU also results in decreased climbing activity and heat-induced paralysis.
Expressing sifHMJ23517 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU leads to eye defects: the pupal eye shows some aberrant interommatidial pigment cells and some aberrant or missing eye bristle cells; adults show a rough eye phenotype and a decrease in electroretinogram amplitude, as compared to controls.
