abnormal size | pupal stage (with Df(3)07084)
kriF9/Df(3)07084 mutant larvae and pupae are thin compared with controls. This phenotype is rescued when the larvae are raised on food supplemented with UMP. Only a small fraction of pupae eclose when the food contains 5mg/ml, but 40-50% eclose on 10-15%. The majority of eclosing adults are males. Supplementing the food with uridine is also sufficient to partially rescue the phenotype, although no adult flies are obtained. Male kriF9/Df(3)07084 flies raised until adulthood on standard food, then transferred to UMP-supplemented food, live less long than control flies that remained on standard food. Presence of UMP has no effect on wild type lifespan.
