Contains a 2bp deletion in the second exon of CG3209.
A deletion of 2 bases in the second exon of Gpat4 leads to a frameshift.
It takes CG320921 mutant larvae 8 days to pupate from 1st instar larvae, whereas for the control it takes 5 days. The CG320921 mutant larvae are smaller in size than controls. The rate and duration of the transition rate from first instar to second instar larvae is similar to controls, whereas the transitions from second to third and third to pupa are delayed.
CG320921/CG3209103 mutant flies do not show any detectable defects in survival or developmental rate.
The body size of CG320921 mutant adult flies shows little change from controls. No morphological defects are observed in the wing or eye.
The lipid droplets in the fat body of CG320921 mutant wandering third instar larvae and immature adults are of a similar area to controls. Triglyceride levels are also similar to controls.
CG320921 mutant larvae take longer to reach their peak food intake than controls: food intake during the second instar larval stage reduced compared with controls, similar for the third instar larval stage and increased during the wandering stage. Locomotion during the period is unaffected.
