UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a mutated form of Hsc70-4 which lacks membrane deformation activity (contains the amino acid replacements K531A, K533A, and K539A). The protein is tagged at the N-terminal end with Tag:HA.

      Expression of Hsc70-43KA.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU does not result in a significant increase in endosomal microautophagy at the larval neuromuscular junction compared to controls. Macroautophagy, synaptic vesicle endocytosis and proteasomal activity are also not significantly different from wild type.

      Expression of Hsc70-43KA.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU results does not significantly alter the mean excitatory junctional current (EJC) amplitude or the quantal content at the neuromuscular junction compared to controls.
