    Detailed Description
    Statement
    Reference

Wild type males mated to Nep2Δ females lay significantly fewer eggs than controls. The proportion of progeny that eclose from laid eggs (hatchability) is also greatly reduced.

There is no difference in fertilization rate between eggs laid by Nep2Δ females, but significantly more of the laid eggs arrest in very early embryogenesis.

After mating to wild type males, Nep2Δ females store more sperm overall at 2 hours post-mating, but store fewer sperm at 4 hours post-mating, compared to controls. This indicates a defect in sperm retention. Also, Nep2Δ females sire fewer progeny from first male matings than second male mating (compared to controls), indicating a defect in female-regulated sperm use.
