        Embryos homo- or hemizygous for wech7 are viable, and mothers hemizygous for wech7 are fertile, but wech7 homozygous embryos laid by such mothers die. In wech7 embryos (lacking wech both maternally and zygotically), lipid droplet transport fails to reverse in phase III (gastrulation) and droplets remain inwardly distributed.
