obst-AΔ1/obst-AΔ1 mutants display larval lethality; larvae have a shortened body length as compared to heterozygote siblings or wild type; the dorsal trunk of late embryos shows a small but significant reduction in airway diameter, and some tortuosity, but no change in length; mutants show no difference in larval body width, and no obvious defects in patterning, dorsal closure or head involution, trachea do not display any obvious defects in epithelial integrity, no defect in tracheal gas-filling at the end of embryogenesis, as compared to wild type.

obst-AΔ1/obst-AΔ1, Gaspd02290/Gaspd02290 double mutant larvae are shorter than either single mutant; the cuticles of first instar larvae appear severely bloated; the dorsal trunk of late embryos shows further reduction in airway diameter as compared with single mutants, but no change in length, and shows some tube tortuosity; trachea fail to become gas-filled at the end of embryogenesis and display some areas of local tube collapse and grossly irregular taenidial folds, but trachea do not display any obvious defects in epithelial integrity; larvae do not display any obvious defects in patterning, dorsal closure or head involution, as compared to wild type.

Comments

Expression of obst-AScer\UAS.cTa under the control of Scer\GAL469B rescues the lethality of obst-AΔ1/obst-AΔ1 mutants.
