UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of the 'iCasper-noGFP' sensor (an infra-red reporter of caspase activity). iCasper-noGFP is identical to the iCasper sensor (see FBrf0227896), except that the complementary split-GFP coding sequences that flank the infra-red fluorescent protein core of the sensor in iCasper have been replaced with leucine zipper dimerization motifs. The PBac{UAS-iCasper-noGFP-T2A-HO1} construct also produces the Hsap\HMOX1 protein, which is required to generate the biliverdin (BV) cofactor that the iCasper-noGFP infra-red fluorescent protein core requires to fluoresce.
